final quality control of Bedrocan medicinal cannabis

It’s a recognizable problem for everyone in the cannabis industry: you send the same cannabis sample to multiple testing labs, and you get back completely different results. Who should you trust?

Like everyone else in cannabis business, the members of the Legal Cannabis Coalition need access to reliable lab testing. Accurate lab results are crucial for the development of new products and services, for the R&D projects we do [link naar post over ontheffingen binnen de LCC], and for serving our wide range of consulting clients. Therefore, we need to know that the labs we contract provide us with consistent and reproducible results, for example when analysing the THC and CBD content of flowers and extracts.

The LCC prepared 10 cannabis flower extracts with varying THC and CBD content, and sent them to 3 licensed cannabis testing labs in The Netherlands.

One of these labs was LCC member Brightlabs, where the final quality control of Bedrocan medicinal cannabis is performed. The other two labs were regular collaboration partners of the LCC. Results were compared and showed a high degree of consistency for reported THC and CBD content. This test is only the first step in a broader testing scheme we are planning for the coming year. In the next rounds of testing, increasingly more complex samples will be introduced, ranging from dried flowers to oils and edibles. After each round of testing, results will be discussed and any deviations will be explored and solved.

Smart collaboration between transparent labs, in combination with independent Proficiency Testing (PT) where available, will help to improve the reliability of cannabis testing throughout the industry. The LCC is already doing its share. Contact us for more information.
